Not so anonymous

Valentines are supposed to be anonymous...but because everything is so commercialized its not.

Women (me included) usually expect so much out of "Valentine's day" from our mate that we usually end up sadly disappointed or just plain mad....Why? Well most men see it as just another day...and because of all the commercialization...rush out at the last minute just to try and get "something" to show their "love" .....They either spend lost of money making shop owners delighted at the end of the day; or are quick to pick up flowers and a card or whatever other small trinket is available at the local grocery store that the woman in their life feels like an after thought..and in all actuality the man in their life is probably just busy working all day long and not able to get away to get that perfect gift that should really be reserved for the couples anniversary or the woman's birthday.

Ok...I just had to get that out..... It is just another day.... Show those you love that you love them each day by appreciating them and respecting them.

I agree ... don't just pick one day out of the year to tell your loved one you love them ... show them every day, in big and little ways. Take care, have a great day, Meow

What if on opening day (of baseball season), women had to give men a baseball present, preferable a baseball glove. Not all gloves are the same -- besides the easy ones -- catcher's mitt, first-baseman's glove -- there are different gloves for infield vs outfield, baseball vs softball, etc. Within those categories, they differ in style, quality, and price plus different players have different tastes.
If you didn't care much about baseball, you might find picking out a glove somewhat stressful.
That's how we feel when we find out that flowers -- which most of us dont' care that much about -- differ in style, quality, price, and that many women consider a box of chocolates and a bouquet of red roses a cliche and lacking in imagination or true feeling.
And we're thinking "Good grief, it's a d*** bouquet, isn't it? It cost me fifty bucks, and to get it I had to fight through traffic after a hard day at work making money to support you. Now you're telling me you dont' feel adequately loved by this bouquet? Pardon me if I feel frustrated..."

You are so right: Valentines traditionally have been anonymous! I had forgotten that. I hope you had a delightful day.
