Some things just have to be ignored

Today I was sitting in training, paying close attention to the trainer and I hear the chair next to me squeak. Then I noticed, out of the corner of my eye, the guy next to me lift his right cheek (not the one on his face) as I heard a sound that is quite unmistakable......

Just in case, I held my breath for as long as I could....finally I had to take a breath before I passed out right there on the floor during training....luckily it was safe.

Now THAT is funny. :-D

PS. I'm guessing you have no reason to be intimidated by your trainer. If the folks where you work remember him as doing great work, fine. They've no doubt blotted out of their minds the fact that he made lots of mistakes too (unless he's not human).

Also: I work in IT too, and I can tell you if it was more than a couple of years ago he probably doesn't remember most of what he did for them anyway, so you ARE the best person for the job of supporting them. They may not realize it yet, but that's just because it takes ppl a while to adapt to change.

In my experience, when ppl go thru something together that may have been difficult or challenging or whatever, they tend to bond during the experience, and when they look back on it, they paint it with a rosy glow in their mind (hey, we survived, yay!) and all the people who went thru it together seem really cool, and newcomers are at a disadvantage.

When I arrive somewhere as the new guy, it always takes a while to win people's trust. From what I can see of your personality, I think you will do fine.

Besides, you have a Master's degree, and your trainer guy probably doesn't. :-)

Yeah..well I would have been really funny had I passed out..

Thanks Bryan for the nice words. I am feeling not so intimidated. The trainer is very good at what he does and I think I am pretty good at what I do too. Your right; its just time and communication to get ppl to know you and trust you in any situation.

A joke my mother used to tell (too often):

“One belch said to the other: “Let’s be stinkers and go out the back door.”

Very funny :-) Isn't it hard not to wrinkle up your nose and turn away, when that smell gets up your nostrils !!! It's hard to pretend you don't notice something like that. You were lucky that time, your nostrils were saved !!!
Take care,
Meow
